Here are a few helpful tips to follow to increase your chances of your loan being funded at a good rate.
Create a User Profile
Lenders need to know something about you, e.g. your occupation, interests, etc. A short history or bio, your ebay ID or other websites and organizations you belong too are a great start. Also, include a picture, make sure it looks good.
Detailed Loan Listing
Don't be too brief! Tell your potential lenders what you intend to purchase with the money and how you will repay the loan. Providing detailed information helps the potential lenders decide on whether or not they want to fund your request. Again, include a picture. Make sure to spell and grammar check!
Suggested Interest Rates
You will be subjected to a credit check by Prosper. The rate you request will be, in part, determined by your credit history and state limits. Guideline interest rates are:
AA rating: 7-10%
A rating: 8-12%
B rating: 10-14%
C rating: 11-17%
D rating: 15-24%
E rating: 22-27% (use immediate funding
)
NC rating: 23-27% (request under $3001
& use immediate funding
)
HR rating: 26-27.5% (request under $3001
& use immediate funding
)
If your Debit to Income level is above 10% or the amount of your loan is above $5,000.00, you should lean towards a higher rate. Take a look at what the average interest rate is for your credit score.
Give your listing time
At least 5 days, 7 days if you are a E or HR. Post listings between 3 PM & 7 PM Eastern time. Post 5 day listings Wednesday - Sunday, 7 Day listings Tuesday - Friday, and post 10 day listings Saturday - Tuesday.
Use "Immediate Funding
" to appeal to lenders who don't want to wait for your listing to end before reaping the rewards of investing in you. Plus you'll get your loan quicker! Everyone wins!
Borrowers with Lower Credit Scores
You will get more bids from lenders if you include detailed information about your credit report and monthly budget. Include a budget break-down to show that you can repay your prosper loan:
Yearly salary = $X
Monthly net = $X
Monthly Expenses:
Rent/Mortgage = $X
Utilities = $X
Cell/Phone = $X
Internet = $X
Auto Loan = $X
Groceries = $X
Medical = $X
Credit Cards = $X
Other debts = $X
Total of Monthly Expenses = $X
Amount left over to go toward your Prosper loan = $X
You should always list what delinquencies are for and how much they are for. If you are unsure, get your free credit report.
Delinquency
Name of creditor
Balance of outstanding debit
Status (will pay off with this loan, in dispute, etc.)
Before composing your listing take a look at some successful examples of well written loan listings. Also look at you loan from a lenders perspective and calculate what your loan will cost if you pay it off early.
After you have listed your loan and it has been approved by the group it is recommended to go over to the Prosper Official Discussion Boards and post a note in the Review My Listing forum for lenders to come take a look at your loan listing. Make sure to include a link to you listing when posting. Invite friends and family to bid on your loan, DO NOT SPAM LENDERS on Prosper. If you need to re-list, revisit this checklist and tweak your approach.
